The 2024 MSS Annual Meeting was held June 6-7 in Chicago.
Over 300 medical students participated in the MSS Assembly, where they addressed resolutions, educational programs, and the outcome of elections.
MSS resolutions
The MSS Assembly discussed nine resolutions and seven reports during the meeting. Thirty-three items, including one immediate forward, were submitted to the HOD for consideration at its meeting. Topics included civil rights in medicine, LGBTQ+ health, and fairness for international medical students.
MSS programs
Educational programs included:
- Members Moving Medicine: Health Care Think Tank Competition
- War, Violence, and Displacement and Their Effects on Population Health
- Dance and Self Defense Workshops
- From Vision to Victory: A Workshop Empowering Medical Student Advocates
- Navigating Family Planning and Fertility Preservation in Medical Training
- Applicant Strategies in Holistic Residency Application Review (live streamed)
- AMA Foundation Leadership Program
In addition, MSS co-sponsored two programs with the Minority Affairs Section (MAS):
- United Leaders in Medicine: A Roundtable of Under-represented Medical Students Collaboration
- LGBTQ/MAS/MSS Advocacy Briefing
MSS elections
The MSS Governing Council (MSS GC) for the 2024-2025 term includes:
